In our previous blog, we drew you towards a side of Sarahah you need to withdraw yourself from. First of all, in this blog, we will discuss with you a side of Sarahah which should be embraced by looking at Sarahah through a brighter lens. Sarahah app and website was established in 2016 by Zain al-Abidin Tawfiq and it was developed with the intention of increasing constructive criticism and honesty within people in workplaces.
During the past few weeks, Sarahah’s negative side had been highlighted and quite often on the internet. The mental disorders it can cause and the negativity just because to take this app too seriously. And it also can bring to people’s lives is a relevant field of study. But what seems to be important is to understand that all things have two sides to it, one good and one seemingly bad. The negative side of Sarahah is one of the consequences of bad usage. The app literally means ‘honesty’ and aimed at promoting the same. Therefore, there were some sensible adults who understood the immense help sarahah can cater and are doing some amazing work through it.

Women Health Line (WHL)-
Women health line is an organisation which aims in having informed and healthy conversations around women’s health. When sarahah had become an app which spread rape threats. Swarnima Bhattacharya, the founder of this organisation decided to put it to some good use. In a country where going up to a gynaecologist is not always as pleasant as we assume. And it surrounds around itself a mouthful of judgement, and it becomes difficult to come with solutions. Hence, Sarahah can be used to promote such organisations. A lot of women have come up with problems and have received solutions easily through Sarahah.
Other organisations like Redmate Elephant foundation, which aims at telling stories. Oppressed has used Sarahah to reach people in a wider lens. Successful queries like those of marital rape have been solved through this app.
AWARE-
AWARE is a Chennai based NGO which aims at working towards child and women empowerment through gender equality.About a year ago, it started a movement called SaveTheSmiles which aims at educating and empowering children. Parents and adults on prevention of child sexual abuse.Under this movement, Mr.Thilagavathy, founder of AWARE started using Sarahah as a means to reach out to people. Child Sexual Abuse, is a sensitive topic is not usually talked about.Therefore, considering the anonymity factor of Sarahah it has led to the adequate success of this movement.
Apart from this, Sarahah has fed some positivity to businesses.
Snackexperts is a Chennai based company. Arul Murugan the founder, created a personal account in sarahah for the company. The account has received almost 90% of constructive criticism and helped the company grow.
So well, we need to remember that no technology turns into bad technology unless the people using it use it for the incorrect and wrong reasons. When we see sides of sarahah that can be proven hazardous and also positive, here comes our decision to use it in a way we find as best for us. What do you think?
