Do you remember the first time you heard the word “blog”?
Well, I guess not!
However, for years, you have been wondering what a blog is, and you want to know what blogs are all about.
Through these series of articles, I will take you from asking what a blog is to having all the knowledge you need to start a blog of your own.
So, let’s start from the very beginning and answer that very basic question:
What is a blog?
You can find about 1.16 billion results for this question on Google, but here I will present this answer in an explicitly different way so that you can understand it easily.
A report published somewhere across the internet tells us that across that there are 3.5 billion searches on Google in every single minute.
How do these 3.5 billion people get the answers to their questions every minute?
Their questions are answered through (yes, you guessed it right!) blogs.
A blog is your best bet for a voice among the online crowd. It can be a personal website or an online journal – private or public, packed with features, as easy to use as your e-mail.
It is a place to express yourself or your business to the world.
Typical Definition:
A “Blog” is an abbreviated or short version of “weblog,” came in 2000. The term used to describe websites that maintain a continuous account of information. A blog features diary-type commentary and links to articles on other sites. Usually presented as a list of entries in reverse chronological order. Blogs range the personal to the political, and can focus on one narrow subject or a whole variety of subjects.
Many blogs typically focus on a particular topic, such as news, web design, sports, or mobile technology. Some are more diverse, presenting links to all types of other sites.
Writing a blog is speaking about real-time information with the world. All big sites have transformed themselves to blogging sites because they are discussing the details with you. They also have to upgrade their sites every day.
Website vs. Weblog(Blog)
New Blog writers often do not know the difference between a site and your blog.
Let me describe this to you in simple terms.
A website is that in which contains static data, like your college website, Ministry of Corporation website, your city’s website, etc. Such sites have all the information about that particular topic. When you open those websites, you will find almost all the appropriate details on that subject there.
A blog, on the other hand, is different from a site because it has dynamic updating. When you check any good blog, you will notice that you never see the information which was on top last night. Most weblogs get updated every day with the new and original material.
As for now you get enough knowledge about blogs. This post will continue with the beginners guide and getting started guide. Till then read more & try to set it up yourself. If you have any query related to this topic, you can ask us in comments or on our discussion forum.
